My Mission
Art is in our lives to educate and entertain. As an artist, I work hard every single day to combine both into every single project that I get my hands on. When I am working on something it always has to come with a multitude of purposes. I ask that not only is my work enjoyable to consume, but also that it provokes deeper thoughts, questions, and feelings attached to it. It doesn't matter if you are in my classroom directly learning from me or experiencing the work of my students, my goal is the same to capture your minds and hearts. My goal isn't to create the next broadway or television icon, but rather to shape students to a lifelong love of the arts full of empathy and understanding. My students are pushed to not ask "Why?", but rather "Why Not?"

Any great theater professional has a long list of topics that continue to spark and inspire them as they work to diversify their background and style of teaching. I’ve locked onto the above topics as I find them to be the core of my teaching and more importantly the stems of the flowers that I wish for my students to take away after their time with me is complete.
I love to take something that people think they know and find ways with my students to turn or reinterpret it in a way that not only better represents them, but also the time and the world we are living in. I think this process teaches my students that there is more than one right way to accomplish every task and reach a meaningful conclusion. I also encourage them to explore the reaches of their physical abilities in their work and how that not only impacts the character, but their approach in life when giving full body commitment. When talking about full commitment, I always look at the social and emotional needs of my students and continue to look for the best practices and trainings to support them as they navigate not only our time together, but their lives and greater world.
The number one thing that matters in my classroom is collaboration. Built upon the foundation that the ensemble is the key to all things, I keep exploring new ways to have students work together to unlock their full potential as well as helping them to encourage those around them to reach their fullest potential as well. I also am very selective in the pieces and works I chose to bring into my classroom as I feel that every work needs to meet a criteria of having something to take away and explore to meet the current moment. When we can have impactful conversations in the classroom and the people who see our work can have those conversations as well, that is a sign of success. I also work to remember with my students that theater is more than acting. It is a multidisciplinary approach to storytelling that is made better when all of the elements work together in harmony and I work to find ways to give all elements equal weight in my teaching
